About The Sisterhood Boutique®
The Sisterhood Boutique® is an African-American web-based doll company.

Our mission is to create dolls that celebrate African-American women who belong to service organizations focused on the meeting the various needs of the African-American community and dolls that celebrate African-American women who have obtained their undergraduate or graduate degree from a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).

The initial concept for The Sisterhood Boutique® came about when Rochelle McAllister was preparing to apply to business school. The process of preparing essays allowed her to dream big and tap into her hearts passion. Ms. McAllister is passionate about celebrating the success of African-American women and the accomplishments they have achieved. Through her own life experiences she recognizes the powerful role African-American women have played in her moving beyond the difficulty of losing her mother at the age of 15. She noticed these women had a relentless commitment to serving their community through various historical African-American Sororities and elite women organizations. They inspired her to both pursue her undergraduate degree at a HBCU, Oakwood University, and to become a member of the first African-American Sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. As a result of their influence on her life, she created The Sisterhood Boutique® to celebrate and commemorate these women through dolls.

What Dreams are made of. . .

A great idea, passion, hard work, tears, support, and faith. To me, these are the essential ingredients that brought my dream to life.

My personal vision is to positively influence adolescent and teen-aged girls who have experienced great adversity. In fact, I believe that God led me through a few significant events in my life in order to prepare me for this greater service.

I was adopted by a single parent shortly before turning two years-old. And at the end of my ninth-grade year, this only parent of mine, my mother, was diagnosed with terminal cancer and one year later she died. I was two months shy of my 16th birthday when I was forced to grow-up and become an adult. Looking back, the emotional, psychological, and financial challenges I faced to simply complete high school and go to college were similar to running a start-up company. My life, at that time, was my working business plan.

The Sisterhood Boutique is a tribute to the many women who were the cornerstones that provided the foundation I needed to achieve the successes in my life. Creating dolls that commemorate some of the most memorable and outstanding aspects of who they are is well aligned with my personal vision.

Through the company and the dolls, my hope is to inspire the next generation of African-American women to dream bigger and achieve greater heights than I can imagine.

From the Heart,

Rochelle
